We have been alerted of a livestreaming scam first reported in Ireland and now in Australia with the
funeral of public figure Labor MP Peta Murphy being targeted last week. The hackers created
numerous Facebook pages purporting to offer a livestream of the memorial service for Peta Murphy
and asked viewers for bank details to watch the stream. See article link below.

The scam involves hackers copying Facebook pages belonging to funeral directors showing
livestreams of funeral services. The hackers then duplicate notices of obituaries and livestreams and
then ask unsuspecting viewers for credit card details to continue watching the services. The scam is
more likely to take place when livestream links are shared on social media, and we would suggest
adding a line or similar to your social media notices and website livestream page:
